Visit a Nearby Jordan MN Apple Orchard this Fall
Apple picking, apple cider, cider donuts, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes … these are a few of our favorite fall things! While it’s still best to call ahead to check on any specific requirements these days, there are great places to go near your homes in Jordan MN, where you can enjoy these wonderful autumnal experiences.
Right in Jordan there’s the Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard on Old Hwy. 169 Blvd. This is a great place to go if you’re looking for variety or your family has differing tastes. They offer more than two dozen apple breeds, depending on the time of season, of course. You can pick them yourselves or purchase bags of pre-picked apples. They also have a corn maze, offer a hayride through the trees, plus you can visit their farm animals and finish off with some homemade cider on the patio for a relaxing end to a fun outing.
Not far from Jordan is Belle Plaine, where you’ll find Emma Krumbee’s Orchard. You get to ride a wagon out to the orchard and depending on the time of the season, you’ll be able to select from possibly 10 varieties. While you’re at it, don’t forget to pick up some pumpkins and gourds for your home decor; it’s that time again! Visitors also enjoy the Scarecrow Festival and there are plenty of apple-related treats to enjoy while you’re there, plus you can purchase more to take home with you, including pies, crisps, and breads. Your home will smell delicious — if the treats last that long!
For a full-day’s outing, it’s worth the extra drive to Deer Lake Orchard just outside Buffalo. Along with all of the usual options, including picking apples or buying pre-picked (they offer roughly 28 varieties), there’s a four-acre corn maze, a kid’s play area, weekend wagon rides, an apple slingshot, pumpkin and gourd patches for all of your fall and Halloween decoration needs, and a variety of animals to visit. On top of that, Deer Lake features live music and special food options on the weekends. Before you leave, don’t forget to pick up one of their pies to keep the apple spirit flowing even back at home.
Finally, for something a little different, consider a visit to Sweetland Orchard in Webster. In the past, they offered apple tastings in their barn, but while the tastings in the barn still aren’t an option this year, they’ve gotten creative and found a new way to offer apple tastings. At least 12 hours before you plan to arrive, go online and purchase apple and/or cider tasting kits. When you arrive, you’ll be presented with boxes filled with your selection, and there’s even a cutting board and knife that comes with the apple kits for a fresh taste and easy work. The boxes also include cards with information about each of the apples and ciders you’re tasting. You can bring your own food for a complete picnic or purchase some local meats and cheeses on site. Then find one of the picnic tables dotted around the orchard and have fun trying the different varieties and learning something new while satisfying your taste buds and having a great time. Unsurprisingly, if you find a real winner that you want more of, you can purchase bags of apples or bottles of cider to take home.
