Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan District Picks Site for New Grade School
For families with children, the search for a new home is also a search for a good school district. For those looking at homes for sale in Apple Valley MN, the search is a little easier. The Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagen School District, also known as Independent School District 196, is consistently recognized among the nation’s top school districts. Beginning this year, they are also building a new elementary school to further serve their young students.
The district has been honored with six National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence awards. In addition, they have a variety of programs in academics, the arts, and athletics, which have been recognized on both the state level and national level.
The district currently has 18 elementary schools spread out among Apple Valley, Lakeville, Rosemount, Burnsville, and Eagan. The new elementary school will be built in one of the fastest-growing parts of the community, near the intersection of Apple Valley, Rosemount and Lakeville. Built on 22 acres on the south side of 160th Street west of Diamond Path in Lakeville, the school will ease crowding concerns at nearby Park View Elementary. The location also has good access to utilities.
Construction is expected to begin this spring and will be funded by a bond sale approved by voters in November. As well as building the new elementary, the bond sale funds will go toward additional construction and renovations throughout the district. This includes the addition of classrooms at five elementary magnet schools and security improvements to building entrances across the district. Students will also gain better access to learning technology, with fourth- through 12th-graders receiving district-issued iPads, and younger students having better access to laptops and tablets.
This school district serves an area of rapid growth, which includes a number of new homes for sale in Apple Valley MN. Potential home buyers will be happy to see that attention is being paid to the school district, ensuring that students have the space and the technology needed to make the most of their education.
