We’re proud to announce our Designated Green Path Builder status from Housing First Minnesota! We know energy efficiency is important to our homeowners, and that is why we build our new homes in Lakeville MN and the surrounding areas with sustainability in mind.

Minnesota’s Green Path is the leading energy efficiency and green building program for the residential construction industry in Minnesota. Created in 2011 by Housing First Minnesota, the program helps homeowners understand the energy efficiency of their home and gives them the confidence that comes with independent, third-party testing.

Part of the Green Path program is the recognition of Minnesota home builders who take energy efficiency seriously and incorporate it into multiple facets of their home-building process. As a result, Designated Green Path Builders are considered industry leaders in energy-efficient residential home construction. We and other Designated Green Path Builders agree to test annually at least 75% of all our newly built homes. We also attend professional development events on a regular basis to stay up to date on the latest improvements and information.

Since its founding, Minnesota’s Green Path has provided Home Performance Reports for more than 37,000 newly built homes, highlighting RESNET’s HERS (Residential Energy Services Network Home Energy Rating System) index and air exchange rate.

The HERS Index is the industry standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured. It’s also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.  The U.S. Department of Energy has determined that a typical resale home scores 130 on the HERS Index. A home built to 2006 energy efficiency standards scores 100. Minnesota’s average HERS number is 50, which is the lowest among states that energy test more than 1,000 homes. That puts Minnesota in the top spot and makes it clear just how dedicated participating builders are in creating truly energy efficient homes.

Green Path green-home and product certifications reassure buyers, especially since most don’t know the specific features or products that create a more efficient home. Besides the usual concerns about high-efficiency HVAC, Energy Star appliances and water-saving measures, a home’s green certification has become a high-ranking factor for an increasing number of home buyers.

With this knowledge in mind, you can feel even more confident in buying one of our new homes in Lakeville MN. We take clean, green, energy-efficient home building seriously and you can reap the benefits with one of our homes that is healthier to live in and will save you money in the process.
