How to Keep a Clean Home

One of the joys of moving into one of the new homes in Minnesota is the fresh, clean start. Everything is new and shiny and looks perfect. However, it’s all too easy to let some of the house cleaning chores slip by and before you know it, guests are coming over and you’re left cleaning everything in a manic panic. To keep on top of your chores and keep your home clean on a constant basis, here are a few tips, broken down into days, weeks, months and seasons.

When it comes to daily chores, it’s so easy to skip them after a long day, but they all take only a few minutes and taking care of them stops them from building up and becoming a real task to tackle. At the end of each day, wipe down the counters and sinks in the kitchen and bathrooms, sweep the floors, and take out the trash and recycling as needed.

When it comes to weekly chores, you can either do them all in one day, or break them down into individual tasks that you add on to your daily chores. How you do it is up to you. The key is to make sure that at least once a week, you scrub toilets, tubs, showers, and sinks, clean mirrors, dust furniture, wipe down appliances, change bed linens, do the laundry, mop the floors, and vacuum rugs, carpet, and upholstery.

There are certain monthly chores that can, once again, be done all at once or can be added onto your weekly chores. The key is to clean your kitchen and bathroom cabinets, tossing anything out of date, clean the inside of the oven and microwave, scrub tile grout, clean baseboards and heating/cooling vents, disinfect garbage cans, and wipe down door knobs, lamps, and switchplates.

These basic tasks, when broken down into manageable groups and split among the family, will keep new homes in Minnesota looking their best for years to come. Don’t forget to take care of a few seasonal tasks, such as cleaning the windows, cleaning the fireplace, washing duvets and comforters, and getting rid of items that are out of date, out of use, or out of style. By keeping on top of your house cleaning chores, you won’t have to worry about unexpected guests. You can welcome them with open arms into your beautiful new Key Land home.
