Four Special Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day
Flowers, brunch, and a card are among the typical ways people celebrate Mother’s Day at their new homes in Minnesota, but consider trying something a little different this year. Not to say that you can’t include flowers, brunch, and a card in the celebrations, but there are a variety of events and activities taking place to celebrate mom in new and creative ways.
Mom’s who enjoy music might find the Saint Paul Civic Symphony Annual Mother’s Day Concert a great way to spend part of the day. The free performance is held at the Landmark Center on May 13 from 1-3 p.m. This year’s performance features acclaimed cellist Cicely Parnas, who won the 2016 Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra Young Artist competition. She obviously listened to her mother and practiced regularly!
For animal lovers, there’s the Macy’s Mother’s Day at the Minnesota Zoo. Taking place May 13, moms get in free all day. In addition, Macy’s is offering a $500 gift card to the winner who can — in just 100 words — best describe just how great moms truly are. Entries are online but the deadline is May 9, so start writing!
Arts and crafts mothers will love a day at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Mia’s Mother’s Day Family Day lets the whole family discover how a simple cardboard box can be turned into an exhibit-worthy work of art. This fun outing takes place May 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Finally, celebrate your mother and Mother Nature with an outing to Eastman Nature Center. There, with your camera in hand, you can create some fun and beautiful memories using unique props with a nature theme. This event takes place May 13 from 1 to 4 p.m.
These are just a few of the ways you can celebrate your mother and give her a truly special day. Whether you go out or stay in your new homes in Minnesota, be sure to do something extra for your mom on Mother’s Day. Find something that you know she’ll enjoy, even if it’s just an uninterrupted day curled up in her favorite reading nook with a good book. Treat her to a day that will mean something to her.
