Fall Home Decor Trends for 2021

Decorating for the seasons helps breathe fresh style into our homes in Prior Lake MN, even if they’re new homes. It’s a chance to do something different and give you something new to look at and enjoy. Fortunately, the overall fall decor trends fit perfectly with fall colors, letting you create a stylish home, not just themed decorations.

This year, earthy colors are in, with a focus on neutrals like cream and ivory, but blush is also back in favor. Not only do they lend themselves to fall decorations, they add a welcoming sense of warmth and ease to a room. However, it’s not just about neutrals; in fact, a lot of bolder colors are being mixed in, such as terracotta, red, yellow, orange, brown, and green. Think of the colors of leaves changing from late summer green to end of fall brown and everything in between and you basically have this season’s big color trends. Paint your walls a neutral blush, choose sofas that are either big pops of color or stick with neutral and add in throw pillows for the bold color. Consider a side chair in one of the bolder colors, as well, to complement the room and add more visual interest.

When it comes to throw pillows, throw blankets, rugs, curtains, and even those side chairs, think about texture, as well. Maybe a chenille side chair in a dark emerald green paired with a warm neutral sandy sofa with a mix of silk and wool pillows in terracotta and yellow, and thick, bulky-knit blankets in a soft, cream fiber. Add in some rattan or wicker side tables or chairs and decorative pieces in brushed brass or gold and you have a stunning living room that is stylish but cozy.

If you already have your home decorated and don’t feel like making major changes, consider at least adding in the throw blankets in chunky knits in a color that works for your space. Then start adding in arrangements of candles in fall-inspired colors, and consider a macrame wall hanging for a bit of bohemian chic. Finish off with some brushed brass lanterns, and some plants, such as succulents to create little vignettes, perhaps adding in the occasional small gourd. Put fall-colored leaves (particularly the nicer faux ones available at craft stores) instead of flowers in your vases and maybe mix in a few thin sapling sticks.

Whether you focus on major home decor or just a few decorative elements for your new homes in Prior Lake MN, the color trends this fall are perfect ways to add some seasonal cheer and charm.
