Celebrate July 4th in the Twin Cities

One of the great things about living in one of the homes in Minneapolis MN and the surrounding Twin Cities area is the wealth of events taking place all year long. Independence Day is no different and you’ll find plenty of festivities on and around July 4th to celebrate our nation.

If you live in the Southeast Metro area, where plenty of people have purchased some of the beautiful properties from Key Land Homes, you won’t have to go far to enjoy the day. Apple Valley Freedom Days run from June 27 to July 4. This free event features a carnival and music in the park, plus a Family Fun Night on July 3.

Those in Lakeville will enjoy the Pan-O-Prog Fireworks at Lakeville North High School on July 4th, from 6-10:30 pm. Another free event, this one includes live music, inflatables, temporary tattoos, a photo booth, and concessions. Bring chairs or blankets to settle back and enjoy the fireworks at dusk.

Woodbury’s Hometown Celebration is being held on Independence Day at HealthEast Sports Center and is free. The Kidzone and food vendors open at 6 pm, FlashMob! plays from 7-10 pm, and cap the night off with fireworks at 10 pm.

If you want the thrill of being in the Twin Cities, there’s no shortage of events there, either. In Minneapolis, head to the Downtown Riverfront from 6-10 pm for the Minneapolis Red, White & Boom. This free event features music, movies, family events, and finishes with fireworks at dusk.

Another option is the Tangletown 4th of July Picnic and Parade on July 4, from 10 am to 1:30 pm. The parade begins at Washburn High School and ends at Fuller Park. It’s a great chance to get creative and participate in the parade by decorating everything from bikes to strollers. If you want to be in the parade, make sure you’re at the high school by 9:30 am. There will also be plenty of entertainment, games, prizes, and food. Not everything is free, but all-inclusive wristbands can be purchased in advance or at the event for $8 per person.

In St. Paul, there’s the 4th of July at Langford Park event, which features a parade, picnic, fun run, pony rides, music, volleyball, horseshoes, tennis, and a variety of other games and fun, all for free on the big day, from 11 am to 4 pm.

For history buffs, check out the Historic Fort Snelling Independence Day Celebration. Turn back to the 1800s and witness a mock battle, hear the roar of cannon salutes, watch military dress parades, enjoy military fife and drum music, interactive stations, and even try some historic games. This event takes place July 4, from 10 am to 5 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for kids over the age of 5.

These are just a few of the events taking place to celebrate Independence Day. If you live in one of the homes in Minneapolis MN or the surrounding area, you’re sure to find the perfect events, or even combination of events, to get the whole family in a patriotic mood.
