2019 Minnesota State Fair

Thanks to a variety of books, travel and food programs — not to mention Minnesota pride — the Minnesota State Fair is known worldwide. So whether you’re a lifelong resident or have recently moved into one of the MN new homes, be sure to put the 2019 Minnesota State Fair into your schedule. Full of food and fun, this is a state fair you won’t want to miss.

The Minnesota State Fair runs from August 22 to September 2, and tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the gate. Don’t forget to pick up the helpful Blue Ribbon Bargain Book to allow you to focus on the fun, not your wallet.

The food is always a highlight of the fair with long-standing favorites, such as Pronto Pup, Turkey to Go, Miller’s Flavored Cheese Curds, and Sweet Martha’s Cookies. There are some new food additions this year that are sure to have your mouth watering, including Fried Tacos on a Stick, Cheesy Sriracha Funnel Cake Bites, Turkish Pizza, and Breakfast Potato Skins.

Shopping is another huge attraction at the fair, with a huge variety of Minnesota vendors selling their wares, with everything from paddle boards to Christmas decorations. There are 50 new vendors this year, as well as established favorites and five various markets to help you fine-tune your shopping, such as the Pet Pavilions, International Bazaar, and Fan Central (perfect for picking up all of your Minnesota-related sports team paraphernalia).

Of course, what’s a state fair without rides and games. There’s something for everyone, broken down into different theme parks to help you navigate. For the little ones, there’s Kidway, with more than 30 rides and games specially suited for younger children. Mighty Midway is home to many of the old favorites, as well as some new additions. This is where you can enjoy everything from fun houses and balloon-popping games to the more thrilling coaster rides. For the really exciting rides that test your mettle, check out Adventure Park, with thrills such as the climbing wall, Krazy Maze, Skyscraper, Sling Shot and Turbo Bungy. Giant slides, go karts, and the Great Big Wheel, one of the tallest travelling Ferris wheels in North America are just some of the many ways to have a memorable time and maybe win some prizes while you’re at it!

As if all of that weren’t enough, there is also music, with 900 shows and over 100 acts throughout the 12-days. There are also activities like Bob’s Snake Zoo, the Butterfly House, and the Great Big Sandbox. You’ll also find booths, showcases, and exhibits with topics ranging from health to history and so much more.

The Minnesota State Fair is something that draws people in from all over the place, so take advantage of living in one of the MN new homes and head to the 322-acre Minnesota State Fairgrounds located between Minneapolis and St. Paul. There are even a number of special shuttles and ride shares to help get you there with the minimum of effort so you can fully enjoy your time spent at this world-class fair.
