How do we get started?

At Key Land Homes, a Minneapolis MN new home builder, we will guide you through the entire home building process.  We provide you with an exciting, straightforward experience so you can fully enjoy buying, building and living in your new home.

The following is a general overview of the construction process, but please note, details and timeframes may change based on your choices.

1. Visit a Key Land Homes model home.
2. Choose your floor plan.
3. Select your home site.
4. Complete the purchase agreement.
5. Select a mortgage company and apply for a home loan.
6. Select your home color scheme and design options at the Selection Centers.
7. Once your loan approval is official and your design center selections are complete we will begin the permitting and pre-construction process.
8. Construction on your new home begins!
9. Around the half-way mark of construction, we conduct a formal framing orientation with you to ensure that your new home is being built to your preferences.
10. Approximately 45 days from completion we send a notification to you and your mortgage company to prepare for closing.
11. Once your home is complete, we will schedule a Homeowner Orientation with you to review all of the components in your new home.
12. Just a few days after completion of your new home you will meet with your title company and a representative from Key Land Homes to close on your new home. You are now able to move in and discover the beauty or your new Key Land Home!

Customizing Your New Home

You’ve found a plan that you like, but you’d like to make a few changes to make it perfect.  Luckily, Key Land Homes can help.  Unlike the mega builders who only build certain plans or allow certain modifications, with Key Land Homes you have many choices.  The result of this customizing opportunity is that your home can be truly unique and one-of-a-kind.

Perhaps you want to add square footage, modify the exterior, enlarge the garage or move rooms around.  Whatever you are thinking, your first step is to discuss your ideas with your Key Land Homes New Home Specialist.  At Key Land Homes, all of our agents are trained in new construction methods.  They know all of our plans and they are familiar with how they have customized in the past.  Once you have agreed on the changes you would like to explore, we will consult with one of our designers to determine the feasibility of the changes and develop a rough budget estimate.

If you decide to proceed, Key Land’s designers will create a customized blueprint for your plan.  You will then review the plan before proceeding and if necessary, you can work with our design team to finalize the details.
